Here a little video on how to do some poi isolations.
Isolations feel so great once you master the concept of them.

Poi Tricks; How to do a float or floater.
This is sort of a stall/isolation in the sense that the direction of the poi is stopped in its spin and then it is brought straight up, isolating on a vertical line.
Image your arm is making part of a “U” shape. This should be the path that your arm follows.

Pretty silly, but will give you some entertainment for about a minute. Will help to teach you how to do an isolation….maybe. Enjoy.

Once you get comfortable doing isolations on the vertical axis, try moving them onto a horizontal one. These are a lot of fun and open up a new doorway to lots and lots more possibilities. Now you can isolate corkscrews!
Think of taking a ruler, holding it in space from the center point with it horizontal in the air and rotating it around that center point, this is a horizontal isolation. When you are doing this with your poi, make sure to practice moving your hands both counter-clockwise and clockwise…..the clock face would be facing to the ceiling.
Imagine stirring a pot both with your hands, go both ways, vary which hand is going CW or CCW. Mix and match and have fun.
